Make Some Noise
Make Some Noise is an interactive visualisation that emits particles when audiences produce sound. The particle size, type and density are determined by the frequencies heard: music, speech, grunts, screams, clicks and claps are each are represented visually in different ways.
Built in Processing this software uses a Fast Fourier Transform algorithm to determine frequencies heard through a microphone. The result of this analysis returns frequency information split into three bandwidths then averaged. The averages control the three different particle types: bubbles, cubes and voronoi cells.
The video shows the interaction between music and the particles generated.
